As I say in my profile, I'm a runner who loves the mountains.
In the Spring of 2011, I decided to reduce my working hours to achieve a better work/life balance and so now my weekend starts on Thursday evening, and most Fridays I drive from Cardiff up to the Brecon Beacons and spend the day zig zagging across the paths and trails there.
I was diagnosed with cancer on my tongue in December 2008 and spent a few months receovering from major surgery, then chemo and radiotherapy. Although I was a runner before this and had taken part in Half marathons etc, it was only after my illness that I remembered how much I loved being outdoors and standing on a summit looking down on a great view. Friday is now therapy day - time to spend time on my own, reflect and get perspective.
Every week I document my Friday run by taking photos, logging it in my running diary and sending a few tweets to remind me of where I've been, but this doesn't quite capture the glory of each trip for me, so I thought I'd try and keep a blog. My idea is to use it as a diary to record my runs and any events I do as a personal record.
